B-52 Stratofortress
a.k.a. the BUFF (Big Ugly Fat Fellow)
B-52 General Information: The B-52 has been the workhorse of the bomber fleet for almost 50 years. It's first incarnation rolled out in 1952. The back-bone of SAC's Cold War Arsenal, no other airplane has engendered so much pop culture mystique. Accumulating over 2000 hours, Greg flew this aircraft for nine years as an aircraft commander and instructor pilot before transitioning to fighters.

| This photo of the early incarnation of the 366th Composite Wing, "the Gunfighters," shows both the "BUFF" and Greg's later aircraft, the F-15E. In addition is the rest of the Wing with the KC-135, F-15C's, and the F-16D's. With SEAD Vipers (the F-16) and JTID equipped F-15C's, and our built in Tanker ability, we were a lethal fighting force. This is not a crowd you want pissed off at you! | This photo was e-mailed to me from my friend Vito after the World Trade Center bombing. I can always trust him to keep me apprised of the latest interesting tid-bits from our BUFF days. |
