O-2 General Information: Manufactured by Cessna Aircraft Company as a derivative of the Cessna Model 337 Skymaster. The O-2 was built as stop gap as the OV-10 was not going to be delivered for a while and the Air Force saw a clear need for something a little bit faster than the O-1 Birddog.
N3219K: This aircraft was purchased by Heritage flight museum in February of 2005. It is a beautiful restoration with most of it's original military radios still working! One of the best parts of starting the aircraft is turning on the IFF and listening to it wind up or changing the frequencies of the VHF radio and listening to the servos crank over the new freq! Of course keeping the radios running is a challenge but one we are meeting for the ones we currently use. We've let the FM slip away but should we be needed in a troops in contact situation or CSAR, we'll get it going again!
