AT-6D "Texan" Painting page 1

The "Spanish Fly" is being painted to my A-10 squadron's mid 1940's P-51 and T-6 paint scheme and I'm changing her name to "Hog Wild Gunner."  While the 124th Wing was mostly P-51's at the time, they did have a few T-6's.  They were utility airframes and while the may not have had the skull and crossed guns as mine will, the scheme is reasonably true to what they were.  Since my plane has a nose cone that I could put the yellow stripe on, I did change the cowl to solid black to more effectively accommodate the nose art. I'll use these pages for coordinating the project and to let folks see how things progress.

Using my very basic skills in Photo shop, I've managed to get a decent rendering of the intended paint scheme.

The emblem on the side as it currently appears on the A-10.  The GAU-8 guns will be changed to the 20mm tail gun (propane "firing" replica) we are installing. Bottom.  Black under-coating similar to what is currently on there.
The basis for the paint scheme.  P-51's on the ramp at Gowen Field in Boise in about 1947.  You can peg the date by the fact that the closest P-51 is an "ANG" P-51 and the other two have note been updated from Army Air Corps "NG".  Note the white background to the checkered flag and skull, we'll do that on the T-6. Reference,  the "TA-436" is a lot bigger than the TA-10 but I think I like the scale on the TA-10 better.
