Our favorite educational program is the ‘Future Flyers’ Kids Area which was launched in January 2007. Our ‘Future Flyer’ Coordinator organizes aviation-related activities for the kids at each of our monthly Fly Days. Favorites have included designing and building aircraft or rockets from basic arts & crafts supplies, and writing letters to local soldiers in Iraq (like CW2 Dustin Engelhardt, pictured right.)
More projects and plans are in the works – bring your kids, grandkids and friends to an open house and see what activities are available for your Future Flyer!
Planned Activities for upcoming Fly Days:
- December 18, 2010 – HFM coloring books. Work on at the Museum and/or take home for later!
- 2011 activities to be planned soon!
Education Coordinator Needed
We are looking for a committed volunteer, preferably with a background in education, who is interested in helping us develop and lead this program. At this time we strive to have a kid-friendly activity at each of our monthly fly days that is fun and aviation-themed. If you are interested, and can make at least a 12-month commitment, please contact us at 360.733.4422.
