Props & Ponies :: Mustang-Mustang Show
3rd Saturday in August @ HFM
Celebrating “the car that changed the way we drive, and the aircraft that changed the course of a war”
In 2010, Heritage Flight Museum teamed up with experienced car show organizers to put on the first all-Mustang show in the region, featuring 100 Ford Mustangs and the P-51 Mustang…. and it was a resounding success! Over 1000 people visited HFM on a beautiful, sunny day devoted entirely to horsepower and good-looks! 2011 was equally successful, with the addition of a local wine/beer/food showcase aptly named ‘Props, Ponies & Popping Corks’, held the evening prior to the show. Let’s face it, this event just gets better and better!
Props & Ponies is quickly becoming the most unique Mustang-owner show in the region to attend, you’re not going to want to miss out!

- Flights will be conducted throughout the day, some solo and some formation. These flights will be conducted in accordance with all of the standard flight rules at the airport – which means that there will be no special aerobatic displays or restricted air space. Our pilots always fly under the direction of the air traffic controllers and fit their passes into the general and commercial traffic here at Bellingham International.
- Please leave your pets at home or in a well-ventilated vehicle… Service animals excepted.
- There is likely to be a lot of aircraft movement during the day, so please follow the instructions of our volunteer ramp crew… they are there to guard everyone’s safety!
- Bring your cameras and your questions! Photograph your favourite airplane and car… have a picture taken with the pilot… talk to Veteran’s about their experiences. This is a great opportunity to see living history! We hope you enjoy your visit with us!

Details of the Friday Cruise to HFM
Cruise details for 2012′s Props & Ponies cruise went at a brisk but sensible pace throughout Island and Whatcom counties.
Start Location & Time
Met again at the Mukilteo Ferry terminal on Friday Morning (July 17th) 9am for the 9.30am Ferry: Mukilteo Ferry Location
Drivers Meeting
We will be holding a Drivers meeting on-board the ferry in the passenger area at the stern (i.e. the back) of the boat – so when you board, come up to the passenger deck so we can go through the cruise route, planned stops, catch-up points etc. I will be providing maps and driving directions for everyone this year so you wont get lost if you get left behind. We will also have a support vehicle with tools on board if you need assistance.
Cruise Route
The cruise route will be as follows:
2012 Props & Ponies Cruise Route
Save this to your favorites if you have a smart phone or navigation software that can store this, otherwise I will give you a hand-out on the boat so dont worry about printing these out. It is just to give you an idea of the fun we have in store for you.
Stop 1: Fort Casey
The first stop will be at Fort Casey mid-way along Whidbey island. The Parks Department will be allowing our mustangs into some restricted areas so that we can get some special photos. If you have a discover pass, please bring it for parking – otherwise as its a state park, WA charges $10 to park there. This will be our first rest stop, cool the cars down a little, take a breather, bathroom break and have a walk around this amazing piece of history – so dont forgot to bring flashlights to explore the bunkers or even kites as it is a great kite flying venue.
Stop 2: Skagit Valley Farmhouse Restaurant
Our second stop will be at Skagit Valley Farmhouse Restaurant for lunch. There is gas across the road so you have an opportunity to fill up if you have been a bit zealous with the gas pedal.
Finish
We will be finishing the cruise at the Heritage Flight Museum by approximately 4pm.
