Show Participation Terms

The Heritage Flight museum displays it's aircraft primarily in Bellingham, WA, and by flying them at airshows.  Though we would like to be able to participate at airshows at no charge; aircraft operating costs, our financial situation, and our fiduciary responsibilities as a 501c(3) (Charitable) organization; means we need to charge appropriately for your use of our aircraft in your show.  Consequently, barring special circumstances, our cost recovery terms for airshow participation are:

P-51 Airshow participation:

-$2500 per show + $250 per each 1/10 of an hour of flying time over 7/10's of an hour (time defined by aircraft hobbes meter rounded up)

-$500 per day for static display (in lieu of the above participation rate)

-$20/NM between airshow base and aircraft home station (Bellingham WA, usually, may vary)

-Aircraft fuel, oil & oxygen at show

-Secure aircraft parking separate from crowd

-Auto, room & board for pilot and support crew (if any)

-5 copies of all media featuring the aircraft or pilot mailed to the museum

Note for Heritage Flight with ACC financial support:

-Note: ACC Heritage Flight and Heritage Flight Museum are two different things.

-ACC has implemented funding in support of the ACC Heritage Flight non-active duty warbirds participating in the Heritage Flight with the ACC demo teams.  If ACC is picking up the cost of the Heritage Flight participation, they only pay for flying directly related to the Heritage Flight, as well as getting to and from the show.  If additional flying is desired by the airshow coordinators, Heritage Flight Museum aircraft can fly but charge a rate of $220 per each 1/10 hour flying time.

-Airshow coordinators are responsible for complying with the Heritage Flight Handbook

-ACC only picks up the flying costs.  The last four elements of the "flying participation" terms remain the responsibility of the airshow itself.

Additional Notes:

-$1500 advance deposit required.

-All checks made payable to Heritage Flight Museum.

-Pilots fly free but do not participate in mass autograph sessions.  They can be available to press on a non-interference basis. (see "media note" below)

-Special presentations may be available but at extra cost.

-Our insurance prohibits sponsor/media rides.

-Pilot's biography, airshow commentary, pilot picture and aircraft history are in the web site.

Media Note:

Please ensure media has done at least basic research (i.e. reviewing the information on this site under his bio) before being referred to Gen Anders for interviews.  Questions like "I understand you were involved with the space program, what did you do?" rapidly diminishes Gen Anders' interest in doing interviews with anyone.  This question opened a newspaper interview as recently as August 2002, so for the sake of your colleagues, please, at a minimum, review the web site before you seek an interview.
