Bill in "Wampus Cat" getting ready to launch during Whidbey NAS's "Thunder on the Rock 2002" airshow with an F-18. An apparently common weather phenomenon is that the fog will cover the beach at one end of the runway while the other end is perfectly CAVU. They launched out from the foggy end and managed to get some nice passes in before the fog stopped the show again. |
A view of the weather above the fog at Whidbey. Great job by all of the Whidbey airshow folks of making it work, even with the stop and go of the fog monster rolling in and out and back in and back out.... |
