Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where is the Heritage Flight Museum?
A: The Heritage Flight Museum is located on the main road to the Bellingham International Airport terminal. The physical address is 4165 Mitchell Way. Follow this link for a map.
Q: Where do we park?
A: [5June2010] - The grass parking areas are VERY soggy. There is a paid gravel parking lot at the corner of Bakerview & Mitchell. It is a mere $1/hour! Probably worth it if you don't fancy getting stuck in the mud!! The paved lot in front of the Museum will be reserved for handicap parking, visitor drop off, and for the local businesses that we share the lot with.
Q: Will the Museum be open on Saturday to check out the aircraft?
A: Though you might notice an increase in warbird activity in the days leading up to the event, the Museum will only be open for viewing aircraft on Sunday, 6 June from 9am-4pm. This is a big event for us... so we'll be spending the other days either setting up or cleaning up!
Q: Can I bring my dog (or other pet) to the event?
A: This is one of those venue's where it's probably best to leave your beloved pets at home, or in a well-ventilated car. There will be a lot of activity going on here - between visitors, moving aircraft, other display vehicles - so for safety and comfort reasons we're asking everyone to please enjoy the open house with just their human friends and family! Service animals are the only exception.
Q: Will there be food and/or other vendors at the event?
A: TBA
Q: Is this like other air shows that I've been to, with aerobatic acts and demonstration teams? Will there be aircraft rides available?
A: This event is just like our monthly museum open houses... just bigger and with more aircraft! There are no aerobatic acts or military demonstration teams who will be performing. There will, however, be lots of flying taking place during the day. Our pilots will be working with the tower controllers (and within all the FAA regulations) to perform as many fly-bys as will fit into the airport's busy commercial and general aviation traffic! At this time, there are no aircraft that will be giving rides. |
